From packing light, how to find cheap flights, travel insurance, travel tips, where to find free things to do in city destinations, or how best to prepare mentally for an upcoming trip – read on for our top advice from experienced experts!

Always Pack A Towel

Successful galactic hitchhiking and plain common sense go hand-in-hand, and both point to one thing: being prepared for any situation. The way to do this is by never leaving without a small towel – this small item grants ready access in any eventuality. Bringing a beach towel can always prove useful – for enjoying a day at the beach, participating in outdoor fun on a picnic, or getting dry after a shower. Therefore, it’s advisable to have one readily accessible.

While many hostels offer towels, there is no guarantee that they will have one available when you need it, and carrying an extra small towel in your bag won’t add too much weight and can make all the difference when needed.

Make A Plan – But Don’t Over Plan

Traveling can be expensive for business travelers, so saving money before taking off is wise. However, please don’t make the mistake of over-planning your itinerary; it’s best to plan for the first couple of nights and then decide on the rest as you go along. This way, you enjoy more of what each destination offers without being confined by predetermined plans.

We booked a hotel room for the initial two nights to determine whether this is where we want to stay or if it would better suit us to move elsewhere. Additionally, it is always wise to take part in a tour and explore the most popular tourist attractions at our destination. Nevertheless, once we have crossed off all the items on our bucket list, we might completely change our plans without any prior warning.

Try Using A Small Backpack/Suitcase

While a small backpack, such as one with 35/45 liters of space, provides the limitation needed to ensure packing light, it goes against our instinctual tendency to take up all the available space. Even if you initially attempt to pack light and have a lot of extra space in your bag, you will likely give into temptation and try to fill the void with unnecessary items.

This decision may seem wise at the time. Still, it will later become evident that it was an error as you will be burdened with carrying items that were not necessary in the first place, along with additional weight on your body.

The same principle applies when selecting a suitcase for your travels: avoiding taking bulky, oversized luggage is generally advisable. Not only are they inconvenient and heavy to transport, but they can be especially cumbersome if you plan on staying away from home for an extended period. However, if you are only gone for a short amount of time, then the size and weight of your suitcase may not be such an issue.

Vaccinations And Disease

Before embarking on your journey around the world, it is highly recommended that you visit a travel doctor or travel clinic at least six months before departure to determine which vaccinations are necessary for each country you plan to visit. Some of these immunizations may require multiple doses administered over a certain period and thus should be considered when scheduling and planning your trip.

Mosquitoes can transmit many dangerous diseases, such as Malaria and Zika. Therefore, taking precautions to protect yourself from being bitten by these insects is important. Wearing breathable long-sleeved clothing is the best way to cover up and avoid mosquito bites. Light-colored clothing is also recommended since mosquitoes are less likely to be attracted to lighter colors.

Bring Two Cards: A Bank Card And A Credit Card

Disasters can occur without warning; unfortunately, these disasters may result in the theft of items or, even worse, the hacking of personal information. When I went on vacation once, I experienced the latter when my credit card got duplicated and frozen. This left me unable to use it for the remainder of my journey, but luckily I had a backup plan in place so that I was not stranded without access to any money. Also, be ready for any foreign transaction fee, which may be higher than expected. It is essential to be prepared for such scenarios if you are traveling abroad, as you do not want to find yourself in an unfamiliar place with no means of obtaining funds.

Carry Portable Chargers

No matter where you are going, it is always a good idea to bring along a portable charger. We have all experienced the disappointment of our devices dying during an enjoyable outing; however, this can now be easily avoided.

Many Sony products are equipped with USB charging capabilities. We have discovered a great device with four separate USB ports so that multiple items can be powered up simultaneously. This simple item will ensure your gadgets remain charged and ready for use anytime! The VPower 23000mAH Power Charger is the ideal solution for ensuring we never miss a shot again. With this charger, battery life is an issue of the past!

Try The Local Food

Trying the local cuisine is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences when traveling in a foreign country. In India and Morocco, we love to indulge in traditional dishes with our hands. Thailand offers delicious soups and stews that are best eaten with a spoon, while many Asian countries have amazing rice-based meals which can be expertly picked up using chopsticks!

Not only does sampling street food give you an insight into the culture of each place you visit, but it also helps to keep your costs down – making it a win-win situation for all travelers. Tourist spots typically have pricier restaurants and hotels; however, it is still possible to find authentic meals while enjoying money-saving benefits by seeking local eateries.

Visit The Local Tourism Information Center

One of the least utilized amazing tips is to take free walking tours to check out tourism information centers before venturing from place to place. During any stay, these centers can reveal so much; they provide details regarding various activities available without charge and pinpoint any special occasions simultaneously. While visiting a new place, savvy and other travelers leverage tourist boards to gain access and discounts to attractions and transportation. These tourist boards exist with one intention – helping individuals optimize their experience for whatever destination they are in.

Carry Copies Of Your Passport And Important Documents

Emailing a copy of your passport to yourself is always a good idea, as you never know when you may need it. This way, if your original passport is lost or stolen, you will have an additional copy available which can be used for any necessary paperwork. Additionally, keeping a separate electronic record of your passport can be very useful should the physical document get misplaced or taken from you – having this backup version will make filing a police report much more straightforward.

Write Down Your Experiences

Even in this modern, hyper-technological age, I believe that it is essential for people to write regularly while they are traveling. This enables them to record and reflect on their experiences. For this reason, I never set off on any journey without a journal in my suitcase. Not only do I use them for work-related purposes, such as taking notes or coming up with new ideas, but they also provide an invaluable resource through which I can document all of my travels.

Travel journals are a wonderful way to document your journey, not just for musings on your sights and experiences but also to jot down logistical details such as directions, contact information, and language pointers. They are a great tool for organizing your trip so that you can focus on fully enjoying it!
